About us

Commercial Rowing Club is Queensland's oldest amateur sporting club. Established in 1877, we have built a solid reputation as a premier rowing club by grooming elite athletes to represent Australia at both World and Olympic championships.

We have over 170 club members ranging in age from 16 to 76, and we offer a variety of rowing programs including:

  • learn-to-row – we provide coaching for people who want to learn how to row. See our calendar for learn-to-row sessions.
  • social rowing – we provide coaching for beginner rowers who only wish to ‘go for a paddle’ (this is subject to crew availability).
  • school girl/boy rowing – we provide coaching for school girl and boy rowers (14 years of age upwards) for on-water and off-water fitness during the off-season.
  • corporate rowing – we provide coaching for corporate rowing crews participating in the club’s annual Crewsin’ the Stream Corporate Rowing Regatta.
  • competitive rowing – we aim to develop our rowers at both elite and master level performing at local, state, national and international rowing regattas.

Commercial Rowing Club works tirelessly in partnership with the Life Stream Foundation to raise funds for sport and recreation programs to help Queenslanders with an intellectual disability, by hosting an annual corporate charity regatta ‘Crewsin’ the Stream’. We have received national recognition from Rowing Australia for our achievements with our corporate charity regatta and for promoting rowing in south east Queensland.

Our major sponsor is Barambah Wines, renowned for producing hand-crafted wines from world class pastoral land in the South Burnett, Queensland.
