Our youth development program aims to support our young athletes gain entry into state and national representative teams.

Athletes accepted into this program will have the opportunity to train and connect with other aspiring rowers, develop technical skills on the water and work to a program designed to achieve personal best results across a range of boat classes.

The program runs twice a year, and athletes are expected to participate in a minimum 75% of the training sessions to maximise their full potential.

Summer program

October to March (school terms 4 and 1)

The main aim of the summer program is to develop athletes for competitive racing at the Queensland State Championships, held in January. Athletes will also have the opportunity to race for CRC at local regattas in the lead up to the State Championship regatta. 

It’s usually a hive of activity at our rowing shed during this time as our youth athletes gear up for racing against the best in Queensland. 

High-performing athletes may be invited to race for CRC at other regattas including the NSW State Championships and the Australian Rowing Championships. 

Winter program

April to September (school terms 2 and 3)

The winter program is for those athletes who wish to continue their skill development in a structured training program, build fitness and camaraderie with crew mates.

There are opportunities to race in head races and coastal rowing during this period.

Eligibility

The number of athletes accepted into this youth development program is limited and selection is based on rowing experience, past regatta results and personal best ergometer scores.

Program cost

$1300 per program (includes Rowing Queensland registration fee of $78).

Athletes are also required to purchase their CRC zootie ($90), t-shirt ($35) and a cap or visor ($25).
